7th Annual UPMC Ice Art Fest in Downtown Carlisle
The Ice Art Fest, hosted by the Downtown Carlisle Association and sponsored by UPMC, is back for its 7th year. The event will take place February 3-4-5. A ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5pm in Veteran’s Courtyard will open the event on Friday, February 3. UPMC’s Ice Throne will be unveiled, along with over 100 other sculptures throughout historic downtown Carlisle. After the ceremony, guests are invited to enjoy a drink at the Ice Bar at the 1794 Whiskey Rebellion, on the patio of Comfort Suites.
Marjorie’s Gems and Jewelry, at 44 South Hanover Street, is selling 100 tickets at $20 each for their Diamond Dig. Don’t miss your opportunity to win an antique 18k white gold Edwardian natural diamond ring, approximately one carat total weight, with a retail value of $2195. Chances go on sale Friday, February 3 at noon and the winner will be chosen on Sunday, February 5 at 2pm.
Photo opportunities can be found along the streets of downtown Carlisle as well as in the Sculpture Garden at the Cumberland County Historical Society pocket park on Pitt Street. Live ice sculpture carvings will take place throughout the day on Saturday in front of the Presbyterian Church. Many downtown merchants will be offering special activities, discounts, music and more.
Benchfield Farms will be offering horse and carriage rides throughout the weekend. Reservations are recommended but not required. To reserve your date and time, contact Traci at 717-448-8464 or email Benchfieldfarms@comcast.net.
The Ice Art Fest couldn’t happen without the support of our generous sponsors: UPMC, M&T Bank, Members 1st FCU, Market Cross Pub & Brewery and Carlisle Moose Lodge #761. Special thanks to the Ice Art Fest committee, and Dan & Tami Shaffer for producing the Ice Art Fest video.
