The Utility of Force
There are occasions when peace with justice can only be achieved through the use of force. The natural movement of Nature is Peace, but it is violence and force that can either move a conflict to peace or more violence. Military force is often considered a solution, or part of a solution, to a wide range of problems for which it was not
originally intended or configured. There is potential to diminish the utility of force when employing it for purposes
which it was not intended. Force can be used to advantage only if its utility in the circumstances is understood
and the force comprehended. The lack of coherence – whether in purpose or between purpose and force is a major reason for the failure of forces in conflict.
