The Academic Department Coordinator manages the administrative and human resources operations for the biology department, with some support of biochemistry & molecular biology and neuroscience programs. The position functions with limited supervision to complete the administrative requirements for the department and programs. The position responds to frequent, short term requests, in addition to meeting regular deadlines to fulfill operational and reporting requirements.
Provides administrative support to the chair and faculty members, works frequently with the full time BIOL/CHEM ADC, is the liaison between students, other College offices, and outside constituents for information and recruitment; coordinates faculty searches; provides classroom support and administers course evaluations; performs specialized administrative duties as required to support the function of the department and programs.
Documents and maintains department records and information. Maintains appropriate records to include syllabi, course/advisee information, research experience documentation, produces correspondence, reports, and presentations.
Directs department events and projects. Coordinates logistics of student honors, department events, activities, field trips, lecturers, and candidate visits to include arranging transportation, accommodations, venue, meals/food, itineraries, publicity, and honorariums abiding by college policies; maintains departmental websites using web CMS.
Manages the office, equipment, and technology support. Responsibilities include extensive administrative office duties; troubleshoots minor office/classroom equipment issues; coordinates faculty offices, student access to teaching and research spaces, and building maintenance checks.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
High School degree with 3-5 years of related office experience. Prior experience working in higher education preferred.
