One of the greatest barriers to successful and sustainable employment in our community is the lack of accessible and affordable transportation for those who do not have their own vehicle. To address this concern, leaders from many non-profit organizations came together to develop a Transportation Pilot Program, called Tribe Transportation Carlisle. Eight service agencies with the greatest client need were identified to participate in the program and serve as pick-up hubs. Clients who may not be able to afford the cost of the service until they receive their first paycheck will be subsidized for a period of up to two weeks. In order to do this, we are applying for grants and reaching out to the Faith Community, businesses, and the community at large for donations to sponsor individuals who require initial financial support.
For a donation of $10, you can provide transportation for an individual to get back and forth to work for a day, and for $50, transportation for a week. On the flyer you will find information on the program and where you can send your donations. The Carlisle Area Religious Council, who will be coordinating donations, is a 501(c)3. We appreciate any and all donations to help those in need obtain and maintain employment. Please share this information with those around you.
