Lunch Box Moments
Seek Understanding. Share Stories. Stop Hate.
Lunchbox moments are formative occurrences in many Asian American kids' lives when a traditional Asian meal is eaten at school and peers have some reaction, whether positive or negative. These stories make up a collective identity that is equal parts profound, beautiful, comical, and heartbreaking. Amie Bantz has been conducting workshops and gathering these AAPI narratives and representing them visually on lunchboxes. The installation will include these as well as a collection of Bantz's work in which she reflects on her Korean American experience.
