Since it’s inception, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region has always served Cumberland, Dauphin, Perry and Lebanon Counties but recently opened a full service office in Carlisle as programming and community partnerships have continued to grow and expand in recent years.
The new Carlisle office will benefit from the visiblity of the vibrant downtown atmosphere. With this new location comes the opportunity to continue to meet the needs of more local children. A local presence allows volunteers and donors to become more easily engaged with the work of the agency. Its new office is located at 201 North Hanover Street in Carlisle.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region serves approximately 700 children a year, with about 30% residing in Cumberland County. The new office will allow the organization to continue recently launched school-based programs in Shippensburg, Newville, Cumberland Valley and Mechanicsburg, as well as the established program with the Carlisle Area School District.
Maddie Young, CEO, states “This new office allows us to become a true community resource in Carlisle. We will continue to collaborate frequently with other local services and non-profits to provide quality, professional guidance on outcome-driven mentoring and child safety.”
Big Brothers Big Sisters is hosting a Ribbon Cutting and Open House in conjunction with the Carlisle Chamber of Commerce on November 2nd at 4:30pm. All are invited and asked to RSVP to events@capbigs.org.
