John Eichelberger was re-elected to his third term in the Pennsylvania Senate in 2014. John has a reputation as one of the most fiscal and social conservative members of the Senate and has rallied the government reform movement in Harrisburg. He is a staunch advocate for government accountability and fiscal restraint, a guardian of family values, and an uncompromising supporter of human life. Setting an example for others to follow, John has adopted many cost-cutting procedures within his offices to save taxpayer money.
John has been recognized for his work on behalf of local government and business. He has received the ?Guardian of Small Business Award? from the National Federation of Independent Business for each of the past four legislative sessions, was named ?Statesman of the Year? by Pennsylvanians for Right To Work and received the ?Friend of County Government? award from the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania.
John is Chairman of the Finance Committee and the appointed Vice Chair of the Banking and Insurance Committee. He also serves on the Appropriations, Local Government, Judiciary, and Education committees. John is known for being ?The Blogging Senator.? He writes daily to help keep constituents in touch with their state government. The blog is posted on this website and on his Facebook page.
John is an avid runner, an outdoorsman, and active in numerous community causes and civic organizations. He and his son, Johnny (John H., III), are accomplished musicians. Johnny is an attorney in the Houston office of international law firm Locke Lord. John?s wife, Charlotte, is best known as the health reporter for WTAJ-TV. Their extended family includes a rescued Airedale Terrier, Lillie. The Eichelbergers live in Blair Township, Blair County.
