Anne Gottschall
RN, VP, - Safety Director, The Performance Group
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics one in every five American workers is over 65. The “Baby Boomer” generation is living a longer, healthier lifestyle and wants to keep active. The majority of the nation’s 78 million Boomers approaching “normal” retirement age want to remain gainfully employed on a full time or part time basis.
Today most companies are experiencing some aspect of the effects of an aging workforce. The culture and values of the older workforce can be a significant asset for your company. Companies need to understand the issues facing older workers and take into account aging factors (mental and physical) when assessing the safety of their jobs at the worksite.
