Sparking the Flame of Empowerment
The Arc of Cumberland and Perry Counties, The Pennsylvania Department of Health and the PEAL Center are hosting a weekend Institute for youth with disabilities to become empowered to make changes in their lives and communities.
We are looking for youth with disabilities or special healthcare needs from Pennsylvania, ages 16-26 that are interested in self-advocacy and leadership to participate in a Youth Development Institute and bring their experiences to the group. We have exciting activities planned where youth will meet other young leaders who are making a difference in their communities.
Information about the Youth Development Institute
The Youth Development Institute works to promote the development of self-awareness, self-acceptance, self-advocacy, and self-determination of youth with disabilities. The YDI is meant to develop youth leaders who have the necessary skills to lead future events. The YDI leaders are responsible for fostering an atmosphere of acceptance, tolerance, and fun.
