The Carlisle Area Chamber is proud to partner with Keystone Contractors Association to provide this mental health training. 

Lisa Basci, Mental Health First Aid Training Instructor will be leading us through this fundamental training. Mental Health First Aid is a training course designed to give people key skills to help someone who is developing a mental health challenge or experiencing a mental health crisis. Just as CPR training helps a layperson assist an individual who may be experiencing a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid training helps a layperson assist someone experiencing a mental health crisis. Attendees who complete the training become certified in Mental Health First Aid.
 
The evidence behind Mental Health First Aid demonstrates that it makes people feel more comfortable managing a crisis situation and builds mental health literacy - helping the public identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness. Specifically, studies found that those who trained in Mental Health First Aid have greater confidence in providing help to others, greater likelihood of advising people to seek professional help, improved concordance with health professionals about treatments and decreased stigmatizing attitudes.

During this training, you will:
● Identify common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges, including anxiety, 
depression, eating disorders and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder
● Recognize common signs and symptoms of substance use challenges
● Learn how to interact with a child or adolescent in crisis and connect them with help
● Be introduced to expanded content on trauma, substance use, self-care, and the impact of social media and bullying 

This seminar is open to ALL chamber members, not only for companies in the contracting industry.
