U-Turn, Carlisle's Largest Yard Sale, benefits the United Way on June 10

U-Turn, Carlisle's Largest Yard Sale, benefits the United Way of Carlisle & Cumberland County. In its 18th year, it features tens of thousands of items donated by Dickinson College students and staff as well as more than 70 vendors selling their wares. Dickinson students who are leaving campus for the year are encouraged to leave unwanted items in large collection bins at 25 locations around the campus. They can also leave unopened nonperishable food items. The event keeps an estimated 15 to 20 tons of items out of landfills each year. The items are sorted by a team of volunteers and are sold on the second Saturday in June each year at the Carlisle Fairgrounds, Building T. M&T Bank is the main sponsor, with support from Carlisle Events and Dickinson College. Admission is free except for Early Bird for $5 from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Volunteers are also needed the week of June 10 for sorting and setup.
