Position Summary
Hope Station is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Part-Time Accountant to support the organization’s financial operations. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling accounts, supporting payroll processes, and preparing monthly financial reports. The accountant will work closely with the Executive Director and external accounting professionals to ensure strong financial management and compliance with nonprofit standards.
Key Responsibilities
•Reconcile checking and savings accounts monthly with bank statements.
•Process third-party payroll and record payroll transactions in the accounting system.
•Review, analyze, and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy.
•Prepare checks and payments for invoices on a regular schedule.
•Prepare and record journal entries as needed to maintain accurate financial records.
•Prepare monthly financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
•Prepare and process IRS Forms 1099 and 1096 when required.
•Maintain organized financial files and provide accurate records for year-end tax preparation.
Qualifications
•Experience in bookkeeping or accounting (nonprofit experience preferred)
•Proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise or similar accounting software
•Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
•Experience reconciling financial accounts and reviewing general ledger activity
•Knowledge of payroll processing and IRS reporting requirements (including 1099 filings)
•Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive financial information
