This position includes responsibilities that are critically important to the educational mission and both strategic and daily operations of education abroad and global learning goals at a highly selective, globally focused liberal arts college. The coordinator/advisor position coordinates daily operations in support of education abroad and a portfolio of programs which include selected Dickinson’s own long-standing semester and academic year programs, partner programs, and short-term, faculty-led programs. This position coordinates application cycles, promotion and recruiting, budget development, updating web based and print program materials; working in partnership with campus-based and onsite faculty and staff as well as with overseas partner institution colleagues. This position advises students before, during, and after the education abroad experience.  This position also serves a critical role in the College’s strategic commitment to imbue our students with an immersive global perspective, a holistic sustainability education, a community orientation and civic skillset, and the ability to think across disciplines and dialogue across differences.   As part of the CGSE team, the person in this role also supports the College’s strategic commitment to imbue our students with an immersive global perspective, a holistic sustainability education, a community orientation and civic skillset, and the ability to think across disciplines and dialogue across differences. 

Essential Functions:
  • Coordinate the day-to-day operations of a portfolio of education abroad/away programs including resolving student health and adjustment issues, academic issues, and other onsite concerns and collaboration with faculty and departments and the CGSE worldwide team in setting expectations, reviewing applications, preparing budgets and itineraries, etc.
  • Advise students individually and in groups on education abroad options (and a few US-based programs) that fit their academic trajectory and learning goals. This includes advising on credit transfer, application processes, course selections, the visa process and managing all documents related to the above duties. Organize and run recruiting events, information sessions and pre-departure orientations in partnership with other CGSE staff, faculty and other CGSE stakeholders.
  • Support the management and day-to-day running of Studio Abroad as well as other technologies and processes that lead to smooth education abroad operations.
  • Coordinate our student exchange program, including advising exchange students and support the international visiting scholar program in partnership with the Director and Assistant Director of International Student and Scholar Service.
  • Coordinate the U.S. Army War College cooperative scholarship and advise dependents.
  • Support CGSE strategic goals including institutional-wide equity and inclusion and campus internationalization efforts.
 
Required:

This is a hybrid position which requires 3 days of on-site work per week on campus. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required.
  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • This person must be a U.S. citizen or green card holder.
  • 1-3 years work experience in a related context
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills 
  • Be able to work as an effective team member in a dynamic and flexible environment
  • Excellent administrative and multi-tasking skills and be highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
  • Demonstrated intercultural or cross cultural experiences 
  • Demonstrated motivation to enhance inclusion in education abroad or other settings.
  • Capacity to manage a high volume of detailed information with frequent interruptions.
  • Demonstrated ability to diplomatically communicate and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in software such as Microsoft 365, Google suite; high comfort with technology use and demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies.
