This position serves as a resource for campus-wide interior design needs. Major responsibilities include space-planning, furniture and finish selection, product procurement, and installation over-sight. The interior designer works with campus staff, administrators, and students to determine programmatic solutions that meet requestors needs within budget constraints. When working on projects, the interior designer collaborates with architects and construction professionals throughout design and construction.

- Design classroom, residence hall, administrative, and social spaces throughout campus. This includes customer meetings, space-planning, and product selection. Manage the implementation of small to medium projects.
- Select and purchase all new furniture and carpet for projects and asset renewal.
- Create and update AutoCAD plans and elevations for small to medium sized projects and to maintain building documentation of properties.
- Participate on project design teams with architects, construction managers, and Dickinson stakeholders to include attending meetings, reporting status to affected parties, and facilitating input of key individuals outside of the design process. Must be able to read blueprints and construction documents that are provided by these entities.
- Communicate with end-users, decision-makers, and contractors throughout projects and requests.
- Initiate quotes with product vendors, submit purchase orders, and track expenses for furniture and carpet purchases.
- Work with Housekeeping, Trades, and Campus Life staffs to prepare residence halls, apartments, and small houses for incoming students, staff and visiting professors. This function includes coordinating moves of existing furniture to new locations and replacing worn or damaged furniture.
A working knowledge of commercial furniture specifications, flooring specifications, and construction finishes is required.
