Job Summary
The Events & Rentals Manager oversees all aspects of the Cumberland County Historical Society’s (CCHS) rental properties. This includes managing the historic Two Mile House as well as the programming and event spaces at our main building in Carlisle, PA. Additionally, this role collaborates closely with the CCHS team to plan and execute major organizational events and fundraisers.
This position offers a flexible schedule, though regular evening and weekend hours are required based on the event calendar. While hybrid work options are available, the manager must meet regularly with their supervisor on-site.
The Events & Rentals Manager reports directly to the Development & Communications Director, with all rights, responsibilities, and benefits alignment as detailed in the CCHS Personnel Handbook.
Key Responsibilities
? Rental Operations: Manage all inquiries, bookings, contracts, and invoicing for rental spaces. Coordinate internal room and space scheduling across the organization.
? Event Oversight: Coordinate staffing and coverage for rentals and events; serve as the primary on-call contact on event days to troubleshoot issues.
? Fundraising & Community Events: Collaboratively plan and execute major CCHS events alongside the Development & Communications Director, including high-profile fundraisers and the Annual Meeting of the Membership.
? Calendar Management: Partner with various CCHS departments to develop and maintain the seasonal public programming calendar.
Qualifications & Experience
? Education: Associate's or bachelor’s degree preferred.
? Experience: Proven experience in customer service, hospitality, hotel management, or event planning. Prior experience working within a non-profit organization is highly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
? Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact professionally with diverse clients, vendors, and community members.
? Sales & Service: Proven customer management skills.
? Organization: Exceptional organizational habits with the ability to multitask and manage competing timelines.
? Tech Savvy: Proficient with computers, including administrative software (Google Workspace); ability to learn internal scheduling systems.
? Drive: Self-directed, highly motivated, and able to work independently.
Physical Requirements
? Ability to transport, lift, and carry event materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
? Flexibility to work varied schedules, including holidays, weekends, and evenings.
? Adaptability to work across various physical locations and environmental conditions.
