Army Heritage Center Foundation to Host Immersive Tour through Antietam Battlefield

Antietam Battlefield Tour Offers Once-in-a Lifetime Experience April 28-29

(CARLISLE, PA) –  The Army Heritage Center Foundation (AHCF) invites history buffs, aspiring and proven leaders, active and former military, and other grateful Americans to join in an immersive two-day riding tour of the Civil War’s fateful Antietam Battlefield near Sharpsburg, Maryland, just 70 minutes from Carlisle, PA.

The tour will take place April 28 and 29, with a full day of thought-provoking learning, food and fellowship planned for Wednesday, April 29.

AHCF President Julie Germany said, "The Battle of Antietam, fought on September 17, 1862, remains one of the most consequential days in American history. Our Battlefield Staff Ride will take you into the leadership decision-making that led to the single bloodiest day of combat in the Civil War—and how its outcomes changed American history."

The battlefield ride will take guests through the rolling farmlands of Antietam.  As a facilitated, discussion-driven experience modeled on the U.S. Army’s professional staff ride methodology, it is designed to explore leadership, decision-making under pressure, moral courage, and the long-term consequences of choices made in moments of crisis.

The event starts on the evening of Tuesday, April 28 at Cumberland County’s historic Mount Tabor Church in Mount Holly Springs, eight miles outside Carlisle. This evening event will consist of a reception and orientation to prepare for the following day.

On Wednesday, April 29th, tour-goers will meet in the parking lot of the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center (USAHEC), 950 Soldiers Drive in Carlisle, before departing to Antietam National Battlefield for a day filled with learning, knowledge, and experiences that are destined to impact guests long after they depart.

Individual tickets are $500; a couple is $950.  Seating is limited, so early reservations are encouraged.  Tickets can be purchased at https://www.armyheritage.org/events/legacy-battlefield-ride-from-antietam-to-emancipation/
