U.S. Army Col. Frank Hancock (Ret.) and Army Heritage Center Foundation President Julie Germany will be guests of journalist Susan Shapiro on WGAL News 8's "In Focus" program as the nation honors those who served in Operation Desert Storm 35 years ago.
Col. Hancock is finally revealing the secrets of that 42-day air and ground war in a fast-selling book entitled "Operation Desert Storm: How Two Young Intelligence Analysts and an Infantry Battalion Changed the War in Iraq."
Their efforts in unrelenting 120-degree temperatures earned them the Valorous Unit Award Citation 1-327 for distinguishing "themselves by gallantry in action during Operation DESERT STORM as they captured a large enemy bunker complex...." acting with "courage, bravery and dedication to mission accomplishment during combat operations."
Col. Hancock held a standing-room-only book-signing recently at the Whistlestop Bookstore in historic Carlisle. He is quick to acknowledge the brilliant work of SGT Jesus Gonzalez and CPT Jose Delgado, whose conclusion that an "unoccupied" trench line was indeed occupied by the enemy saved countless lives.
Col. Hancock's book is available on Amazon, at the Whistlestop Book Store, and other major and local bookstores.
