Local Activist-Entrepreneur to Inspire Central Penn College Graduates at May 2 Commencement in Harrisburg
(Enola, Pa.) March 26, 2025—Central Penn College will celebrate its 143rd Commencement on Thursday, May 2, at a ceremony that begins at 6 p.m. at the Forum in Harrisburg.
The college will award an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters degree to Hagir Elsheikh, a prominent Sudanese -American activist, who fled political torture, domestic violence and oppression in Sudan to become a trailblazer in the U.S. as a serial entrepreneur, author, advocate for those with autism, motivational speaker, and global peacekeeper.
Elsheikh will share the lessons of her extraordinary journey to international success in human rights, business and philanthropy as she addresses the graduates.
She is the Chairwoman and CEO of Hagir Network, and the founder and CEO of Tomorrow’s Smile, Kareem’s Mission, HSE Staffing Agency, and KMission TV, LLC. She has fought against human trafficking, gender-based violence, and other human rights violations, partnering with the United Nations, Amnesty International, world-renowned universities, and other forums for peace.
“I am beyond honored and truly excited for this incredible opportunity and look forward to being part of such a special day,” said Elsheikh.
College President Linda Fedrizzi-Williams, Ed.D., will preside over the ceremonies, which will include several hundred students earning certificate, diploma, associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees as the Class of 2025.
