STAFF UP! | A Tourism Partner Alert

More visitors. More opportunities. Let's be ready!

The Cumberland Valley Visitors Bureau (CVVB) is working to grow tourism and bring more visitors—and their spending—to our communities. But attracting visitors is only half the equation. We also want to help our hospitality partners prepare to welcome them.

Introducing STAFF UP! To help our hospitality partners capitalize on these opportunities, we're launching STAFF UP!, a periodic alert highlighting upcoming events expected to bring significant visitor traffic to Cumberland County.

Our goal? Help hotels, restaurants, and other businesses anticipate demand, plan staffing, and deliver a great visitor experience. Sign up here to receive STAFF UP! alerts.

Coming Soon: PIAA State Championships

Three major sporting events will drive thousands of visitors to Cumberland County this November and December:

Visitor counts are preliminary estimates and include athletes, coaches, families, and spectators traveling from outside Cumberland County.

Where to Expect the Greatest Impact

·        Carlisle and Shippensburg: Significant lodging and dining opportunities surrounding the Cross Country Championships.

·        Mechanicsburg and the West Shore: Greatest anticipated impact from Field Hockey and Football Championships.

·        Carlisle: Additional lodging and dining opportunities for visitors attending all three events.

Help Visitors Discover More!

Our visitors may be here for a championship, but there's so much more to experience in Cumberland County! Encourage your frontline teams to share the Visit Cumberland Valley Events Calendar with guests looking for things to do, places to eat, and ways to explore while they're here.

Let's staff up, welcome our guests, and make the most of every visit! Click here to receive STAFF UP! alerts.

Growing Sports Tourism in Cumberland County

At a recent Destination Sales Sub-committee meeting, we heard from two organizations helping to shape the future of sports tourism in our region:

·        Keystone Athletic Complex plans to open two turf fields by Fall 2027, with six additional grass fields coming in Fall 2028. Once complete, the complex projects 139,000 annual visitors.

·        Carlisle Family YMCA Aquatics Center has become a premier destination for competitive swimming and water polo, recently securing a multi-year partnership with PSAC to host swimming championships through 2030. The YMCA offers partnership opportunities for area hotels.

Both organizations have benefited from CVVB grant support, helping build the infrastructure to attract more visitors to our region.
